Community development important to my administration, -Gov. Ambode...

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Thursday said that the policy thrust of his administration would be centered on community development.
Ambode, represented by his Deputy, Dr Oluranti Adebule, made this known at the Lagos House, Alausa during a meeting with members of the Neighbourhood Watch and Community Development Committees (CDC) in the state. He said that his administration would give back government to the communities. “Let me assure you that going forward, you will be playing a more significant and critical role in this administration. “The present administration is giving back government to the communities, the policy thrust of this administration. “We know that if we develop the community, we have developed the local government; that means we are equally developing the state,” Ambode said. The Governor also appreciated the contributions of the Neighbourhood Watch members to the maintenance of law and order in the communities. He said that there was need for them to embark on self-appraisal in order to ensure that the members live up to the expectations of the public.  Ambode reiterated the commitment of his administration to ensure the provision of 20 new rural roads in each of the Local Governments in the state as promised during the electioneering campaigns. He also thanked the two organisations for their support during the last general elections and for being partners in progress with the State Government at all times. Earlier, the Coordinator of the Neighbourhood Watch, Alhaji Akeem Sanni, thanked the State Government for always according the members recognition. More on vanguard.
