Deposed Monarch Kicks as Kingmakers Pick New Deji of Akure...

Tosin Ajuwon reporting fro Daily Times revealed that a prince from the Osupa Ruling House, Kole Aladetoyinbo, has emerged the new Deji of Akure;This decision, which was strongly protested by the deposed last occupier of the throne. Aladetoyinbo, was on Sunday unanimously selected by traditional kingmakers in Akure, at their sitting, which took place at the palace of Asamo of Akure. The new Monarch, a businessman who lives in Baltimore in United States of America (USA) will be installed today (Monday) at an event to be attended by the governor Olusegun Mimiko. Aladetoyinbo had contested for the throne three times but lost. On Sunday, he defeated 12 other princes to emerge as the monarch of the town subject to the approval of the Ondo state government. The other 12 contestants included: Akinwumi Falodun, Oluwole Adegite Kayode Abewajoye, Kayode Adegite, Femi Adejuyigbe and Adeolu Adepoju. The rest are Oluyemisi Bello Falugba, Adegbola Adelabu, Daramola Adewole, Samuel Adegboro, Arimoro Ojo Ayodele, Oluwole Ogunsuyi and Leye Agbebo. The process, which started with the screening of the contestants, from the Osupa Ruling family, was held at a special meeting held at the residence of the family’s head, Dr Adebimpe Ogunleye in Akure. At the screening, the Secretary to Akure South Local Government, Kehinde Ige said the selection was in line with section 8 subsection one of the Ondo State Law-2006, which empowered the ruling family to make nomination for kingmakers to pick final candidate.
