President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday in Abuja, vowed that billions of dollars stolen from government coffers by past government officials would be recovered by his government.
Empty treasury: Jonathan’s minister faults Buhari...
The immediate past Minister/Deputy Chairman, National Planning Commission (NPC), Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman, yesterday, faulted claims by President Muhammadu Buhari that his administration met an empty treasury. Suleiman said the former administration as at May 29 left behind $30 billion, adding that the sum would have been higher had the governors not insisted on sharing the fund.

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the removal of all military check points nationwide and has directed that police should take control of internal security.

President Muhammadu Buhari resumed office at the Presidential Villa today. On his first day in the office, President Muhammadu Buhari went into a meeting with service chiefs who arrived the Villa shortly after the president resumed at the presidential Villa. It is the second time that President Muhammadu Buhari would be meeting with the service chiefs since he assumed office.

Old age won’t affect my job – Buhari...
President Muhammadu Buhari declared, yesterday, that his age will not affect his job as president of Nigeria. He said that at 72 he has in quantum, the wisdom, the patience, the temperance and forbearance that age brings and has brought all these virtues to the presidency to make a difference in our national life. The president said this ,yesterday, in Abuja, in response to reports quoting him as saying while addressing the Nigerian community in Johannesburg, South Africa, that his age will limit his performance.

Strong men have destroyed instititutions in Nigeria —BUHARI...
President Muhammadu Buhari regretted yesterday that those he regarded as ‘strong men’ have destroyed institutions in Nigeria but promised that his administration would do its best to ensure that institutions bequeathed to the country by the British colonial leaders were restored. The President who spoke in Johannesburg, South Africa while meeting with the Nigerian community there after the African Union meeting also said in spite of what he described as ‘crazy people’ who are trying to ensure the breakup of the country for selfish reasons, Nigeria will remain an indivisible country. His words: “We have a system in Nigeria. No matter what you say about the British colonialists, they built institutions for us, unfortunately we have destroyed those institutions.

President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha, on Friday in Abuja met with the mothers of the missing Chibok Girls to re assure them of the government’s determination to rescue the girls. The meeting was at the instance of the wife of the President. Addressing State House Correspondents after the meeting, the Wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, said the meeting was a dream accomplished. “Her Excellency, Hajia Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, has for very many months wanted to visit Chibok. “She also wanted to meet with the mothers. Salary crisis: Buhari to bail out states...
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that President Muham-madu Buhari would extend bailout to states to enable them offset backlog of salaries and liabilities crippling their economic activities across the country. He made this known yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital, during separate meetings with students and other union leaders from the Benue State University, BSU.buhari-salary Ortom further revealed that his predecessor, Gabriel Suswam left behind a debt burden of over N90 billion for his administration, contrary to the N9.2 billion debt as claimed by the former governor.

President Muhammadu Buhari has again reiterated his pledge that his government will closely study the report released recently by Amnesty International, in which top ranking officers of the Nigerian military were accused of gross abuse of human rights. In a statement Friday, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said “The president is quite disturbed by the allegations contained in the report. The next step is to look into the allegations and confirm or disprove the disturbing details.”
