The Speaker of the sixth Anambra House of Assembly, Rita Maduagwu, yesterday, pledged to ensure synergy between the arms of government to provide opportunities for better life. Maduagwu made the pledge after her inauguration in Awka by Governor Willie Obiano on the floor of the state's House of Assembly. He
assured the people of her readiness and commitment to uphold the
principles of democracy and rule of law to ensure the realisation of the
four cardinal objectives of the governor.
The new speaker was nominated by Ikem Uzoezie, representing Aguata II constituency and the lawmakers unanimously adopted the motion. The Clerk to the House, Pius Udoh, administered the oath of allegiance on the new speaker. Halford Oseke (APGA Awka South 2) was also unanimously elected the Deputy Speaker.
He said,"the
cardinal objectives of the governor which are industralisation,
agriculture, commerce, oil and gas when fully achieved will place the
state in high level and investors will throng our state for
development.’’
Out of the 30-member house, 17 are newly elected, while 13 are re-elected, as 26 of them are men, while four are women. Meanwhile, the election of principal officers of the house will be conducted on a future date.
The member representing Aguata 1 APGA, Ikechukwu Umeh, said he is grateful to his constituents for re-electing him and promised to work to attract more development to the area. Credit to Pulse.
