While she may not have been the most documented Sony Pictures hacking victim, Emma Stone has
revealed how the scandal - which saw her email address and personal
telephone number leaked - resulted in drastic action on her
part.
"I did one of the worst things ever, which was react
really quickly. I was getting all these emails and texts from
people I didn't know - 'Hi, I'm Joe from the UK, I like your
movies' - and I was so overwhelmed that I went to my inbox and I
deleted all my emails," she told Wall Street Journal Magazine."I was so overwhelmed that I went to my inbox and I deleted all my emails. In about a 30-second span, I hit 'Select All' and 'Delete Forever,' and thousands of emails, like six years of emails, are now gone forever. I was just so freaked out that someone was in there."
For Stone, however, the old adage "react in haste, repent in leisure" was never more pertinent.
"It was horrible. I cried for like an hour. Most of the emails I'm mourning I can still talk to the person and get them back. But there's others where the person is actually gone. It really sucks."
is taking the advice of fellow actor and friend Bill Murray.
"He told me to keep some things I love just for me," she said. "The idea is to have some things that you don't feel like you need to share with the world. To have some things that are only yours."
